Should I use laser or continuous forms?

One of the dilemmas that businesses have today is whether to use laser or continuous forms. Often, today's new programs do not have the drivers to allow you to print anything other than a laser form. In that case, the decision has already been made for you. Furthermore, laser printer sales dominate the market and they offer utility for other purposes that dot matrix printers don't offer. Thus, a new business in particular will opt for laser forms. Laser forms are easy and convenient to use and do not require dedicated printers as often was the case for printing continuous cheques.

Often, if a company using continuous cheques needed a cheque printed for a one time charge, a manual cheque was written because it was easier and quicker at the time. As a result, cheque numbering sequences were interrupted, the manual cheques had to be entered later in the computer and bank reconciliation was more difficult. Laser forms also give a nicer finished product and enhance a company's image.

However, it may be more to your advantage to use continuous forms, depending on the type of business you will be operating. A number of our customers use laser cheques and still use continuous invoices and statements. Here are some of the reasons why:

"Multi-part forms are more secure:

• A carbonless copy is always a true copy of the original.
• Alterations to carbonless copies are easily detected.
• There is less opportunity for mischief with a carbonless copy of the original.
• Example: With laser printers, dishonest employess can create fraudulent file "copies" of invoices or purchase orders and then keep overpayments or over-quantities of received goods.

Multi-part forms cost less to use:

• Continual use and overuse of laser printers leads to excess toner and repair expenses.
• Running multi-part continuous forms through an impact printer is faster and more economical.
• Overuse of photocopiers to make copies of laser printer forms originals is also expensive in terms of labor, toner and repair expenses."

Do you have manual forms?

If you do not have a computer, we have a wide range of snap set invoices, proposals, estimate forms, work orders and interoffice memos to name a few. These can be viewed on the website.

A number of firms with computer accounting software still use manual forms out in the field for work / job orders and invoices and may use register forms and work orders at their counter. We have business forms and printing solutions to fit virtually any business type.

Do you provide custom forms?

Yes we do. Sometimes, when our catalogue forms don't quite fit your requirements, some custom designing is in order. We can offer nice form enhancements and design features by making changes to a catalogue form or building something from scratch. Often the cost difference between catalogue and custom forms is nominal.

What security features can you offer?

We offer various levels of security features in our cheque papers to make life more difficult for counterfeiters. As of November 14th, 2005, our basic QE cheques are printed on Docu-chekŪ impede Security paper as cheque fraud is a $12 billion plus annual problem in Canada. This paper includes the following features: LineMark, Chemical-Reactant Stains, TonerFuse, Invisible Fluorescent Fibers.
